We had a similar problem. We had to call III and they cleaned it up.
Could not figure out why it happened, seemed a bit random.

Subject: [IUG] multiple location fields in bib records
While surveying our serials records, I have come across a number of
bibliographic records with multiple location fields (25+ lines) embedded
in the bib record. These do not display to the public (showing only the
correct four locations), but are visible in the bib. If I attempt to
edit the location field in the bib record, only the correct number of
locations display (w/the location field reading "multi" - as per usual).
I do not know how to address this problem.
We are part of a consortium, and I think - though I do not know for
certain - that may have something to do with the problem. Is it
possible that this may have occurred when overlaying bibs?
Any ideas? I have not yet placed a call with III.
Thanks,
Jennifer O'Brien
