Ahhh.. But that's the real problem. All our materials are shared
between all our branches, including the bookmobile. You can check out a
bookmobile book at the Main library and vice versa. Therefore, items
checking out in any of our branches may have a location code from any
other branch. The issue is with where the item is checked out, not with
who owns the item, so the loan rule cannot follow the item, but needs to
follow the patron. Clear as mud?
I did get some good ideas for building something in the loan rule
determiner table, but have not had a chance to try them. Thanks to all
who replied.

As loan rules are determined by the matrix of location, patron type, and
material type couldn't a single card handle both situation as long as
bookmobile books are a separate location? Mark Bayles, Chapel Hill

Subject: [IUG] Block Ptype from Checking out
Does anyone know if it is possible to block particular PTYPES from
circulation activity at certain Branches?
We issue a different color of library card to Bookmobile patrons. They
are supposed to use this card ONLY on the Bookmobile, and maintain a
second "regular" card for use in any Branch. The reason was different
loan periods on the Bookmobile vs. buildings. In any case, staff
recognize the special card by color. The self-check machine does not
and so it is allowing checkouts on the Bookmobile card.
It looks like you could do this through the patron blocks table IF you
are a consortium, but we're not, and I've been unable to find a way.
Thanks!
