Lauren,
Bottom line is to get your ship back on course which means do the basics - cki, cko. When all of that is done, do the extras - holdshelf report, paging slips, notices. Those things are icing on the cake.
I would suggest doing it in this order -
1. enter checkouts - If you've checked out anything during your outage, enter those first.
2. checkin and backdate - If you can, get all hands on deck to check in all items.
3. run clear holdshelf report - After everything is checked in, even if it takes more than one day, run your clear holdshelf report. Nothing will move on to the next customer until you run the report. In fact, if you don't run the report, it will give customers a couple of extra days to pick up their items.
4. run notices - This can be done after everything is checked in.
Your mileage may vary. For example, if you have notices set to run automatically, think about whether or not you want to turn off the auto run for a few days. Entirely up to you.
Best of luck!
Carol

Hi,
We have been without power since Sunday afternoon and it is looking like it
may be 1-2 more days before power is restored and we can power up our
Millennium server. When that happens we will have a LOT of books to
checkin, holds to process, and notices to send. Can anyone recommend a
sequence of steps that might minimize our problems when we come back up?
For example, would you recommend clearing the hold shelf before we start to
checkin items? Or should we checkin everything first? Would it be
beneficial to checkin everything and clear the hold shelf before any nightly
processes (cron, holds, etc.) are run? Or are we just in for a rough patch
no matter what we do?
Thanks,
Lauren Douglass
