Thanks Aimee-

That was very helpful! I am still having trouble setting up several of my more complicated feeds in feed builder, though, and am wondering if you've had trouble with this. The simple ones work quite nicely, pulling from Saved Searches. Like this one:
http://piocat.cc.edu/feeds/newmaterials.xml

However, I would love to replace all of our Featured Lists with Library Feeds, and I can't get the ones where I'm trying to pull information from MARC tags to work.
For example, http://piocat.cc.edu/search~S0?/ftlist^bib53%2C1%2C0%2C845/mode=2
Is a list of all our award winning children's books in our CMC. The search is set up like this:

BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Caldecott" OR BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Newbery" OR BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Coretta" OR BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Horn" OR BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Printz" AND ITEM LOCATION equal to "cmc "

Which is based off the original from the static featured item list:

BIBLIOGRAPHIC LOCATION equal to "cmc " AND (BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Caldecott" OR BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Newbery" OR BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Coretta Scott" OR BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Horn Book" OR BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 586 has "Printz")

But what I seem to be getting is everything in the CMC: http://piocat.cc.edu/feeds/cmcaward.xml

Thoughts?

Amelia -
according to the configuration documentation (# 106988) the field specification element only works for Variable length fields, so you wouldn't be able to display an item's status. The briefcit.html form allows you to use both V and F, but since that's not specifically indicated here it may not work. I wouldn't think you would want to anyway. Since the feeds are generated overnight as soon as something gets checked out the status will be incorrect anyway.

You could probably display an item's call number by specifying the appropriate field group tag or specific MARC field

:Vic|:Vbc
Or
:Vic090|:Vbc090

I've not tried it though.

Check out my IUG Presentation (OPAC Mashup) on RSS feeds. In one of the slides I compare our fiction feeds, where I display the entire field group, vs our DVD feed, where I display only the title by specifying a specific MARC tag with indicator variations. I have copies of my config files in there.

Subject: [IUG] Feed Builder config?

Is anyone using feed builder? I'm trying to get a feed for new materials to display the item's status and maybe call no., and I'm sure this is possible- has anyone done this? Anyone willing to send me some sample code?

Currently, our feeds are set up with the default: http://piocat.cc.edu/feeds/newmaterials.xml

format=RSS2.0
hostname=piocat.cc.edu
query_type=b
query=newmaterials
max_items=100
title=New Materials in the Carroll College Library
desc=These are the latest titles added to the collection.
lang=eng
item_title=Vit|:Vbt
item_desc=Via|:Vba
record_type=b
date_adj=72
range=5000

What information are you displaying with the titles? How is it coded?

Thanks,

- Amelia
