We are not yet using the one card system, but did have to re-issue new ID cards to all student, faculty and staff. We also now generate the library barcode in the id system and it is printed on the back of the ID. Basically, we are taking the student ID number (Banner for us) added the standard library id, 23086 and a check digit.
We kept the old patron barcodes in the III system for a year to allow for the transition.

Subject: [IUG] Student Id/Library cards and Millennium
We are looking into having a one card for all card for students (ID, Library card, debit, etc...) and would like to know if anyone has gone through this changed and how you managed the project of assigning the new cards to all student and eliminating the old library cards.
Also, I have been asked if what the algorithm is for the Millennium system to generate temporary library card numbers from the patron self registration module.
Thanks,
Steve
