Here is a comment from our Adult Dept. Web librarian:

We are definitely pleased with it. Our librarians have been referring to
it to make recommendations to patrons, and we have told patrons how to
look in the catalogue record to find 'similar books' and 'tags'
themselves (although unfortunately these appear at the end of the record
and are therefore aren't as visible as we might like.) Our library board
also thought it was a great idea, and liked the idea that it helps
promotes older titles as well. As you might expect, the 'similar books'
formula sometimes produces odd results (for eg. Captain Underpants is
'similar' to Miss Read's Fairacre!) but on the balance the suggestions
are useful or at least interesting.

We have also created an account with LibraryThing itself for our Staff
Picks; have recommended LibraryThing to users we think would be
interested in looking up titles or creating their own account; and have
also recommended it on 2 occasions recently to people who have asked
what 'software' they could use to catalogue their home library.

Good Morning,

I checked the archives and there has been discussion regarding
Librarything's subscription service to libraries. Has anyone
implemented Librarything and are you happy with the product? Is the
public pleased? Any information will be greatly appreciated and shared
with the group.

Regards, Janet
