- Subject: [IUG] Google Analytics: Tracking Search Term Usage
For those using Google Analytics to track usage of their web OPAC, it's
also possible to track individual search term usage.
Once you have a site configured, click Edit under Settings in the GA
dashboard. Once at Profile Settings, click Edit in the Main Website
Profile Information bar. (It's just under the Check Status link.)
On the Edit Profile Information page, select Do Track Site Search. The
Query Parameters we're using for Innovative are searcharg and SEARCH. I
figured these out just by looking at the URLs for various searches, so
if I've missed any, please let me know.
Then under Content Report, you'll find Site Search statistics available.
I'm currently experimenting to find out if categories for site search
(under GA Profile Information) can be used with the searchscope
parameter. This might track which scope, if any, was used in the
search.
cheers
