Hi Mia,
I love this list. Everyone has such great ideas. I really like the idea of some explanation of the status. If you get something like this working, please let me know.
In the patron record, the item status would be very helpful when patrons are viewing their holds. We frequently get patrons who want to pick up their "Available" books. We even have staff members who have gotten confused before when seeing the "Available" status on a patron record. :( For those who use "Not Checked Out", you are just too lucky!
I may just add one link from the hold page in the patron account to a new page with item status and descriptions. Probably put the status info in the help area of the site.

Subject: [IUG] Link from item status label in webpac
Frustratingly, I can't find this in the list archives, though I'm sure it was discussed fairly recently!
I'm looking for ways and means/examples of WebPacs that have made their item STATUS field clickable from the WebPAC, in order to show the user an explanation of the status code. Either the link brings user to a static page explaining status code meanings; or it could be something more interactive.
i.e., when displaying a record user clicks on the item record's STATUS label (e.g., "MISSING"; or "IN LIBRARY") to get to an explanatory page.
Thanks muchly.
