We have been using an attached Okidata dot matrix printer for years now
to print our circulation notices. Since we activated email notices, the
vast majority of our notices are now sent via email, making our old
massive system printer overkill. It was at that point that we moved
over to a locally attached printer.

And, yes, the Notices module has indeed migrated over to Millennium
Circulation. It is much more user friendly than the character based
version. To test the module without losing any notices, you would have
to make sure to not clear the notices after printing them. You could
select a File Save printer option and move all of the notices into the
print queue (assuming you use email notices) and then file save them to
make sure that they were generated correctly. If you then make sure not
to delete them from the queue at that point, then they will remain in
the system for you to then print officially in the character based. See
Page # 105213 of the manual for information on Millennium Circulation
Notices.

Subject: [IUG] Circulation notice printing

I haven't thought about this for a long time, don't do it and after
wading through the manual, still can't answer the question...
Without a 3rd party printing software, just using what Innopac and
Millennium gives us, can the Circulation overdue notices be printed out
on an attached printer? Or do they continue to have to be printed on the
system printer? I know at one time that was the case, but don't know if
it is still the case. We are on Release 2006.
And, while I'm asking, do the notices still have to be printed out of
the character-based Innopac? That seems to be what I got from my search
of the manual(s), but I could be mistaken. As I said, this is not
something I do. Ever. Or even think about except when I get questions
from Circ staff.
Is there any way to test any of this out without losing the file of
overdues to be printed?
My apologies for my ignorance and thanks for your kind guidance in
advance.

Regardsz,
