Hi Barbara,

Local Printer can be used to print to any printer that you have set up on your PC as the default. And you can select another printer from the print popup for any reason. For example, you are happy printing a couple pages to our old desktop printer, but would prefer to send the 100 + paging slips to your brand new high capacity printer in another office down the hall, you can do that using Local Printer and selecting the printer for each job. Your default printer will be first in the list.

You install the printer on your computer like you would normally do to use Word, Excel or whatever. You set that printer to be your default. When printing from Millennium, you choose local printer and it should print to your default printer.

Our choices are:

Local Printer (Pick Me!)
Sent to Email Address
SD Reference Office
SD Cataloging
SD Access Services

If the printer is out-of-service, you go back into your PC's printer and faxes and change your default printer. You can even print to a printer on your network that you have choosen on your PC as its default using the Local Printer.

At one time we did have a printer hooked directly to our computer running MilCirc, but it broke and wasn't replaced. Two of the SD printers were old and tired and we didn't have the Access Services one yet. We have a locally networked all-in-one multifunction Xerox machine. We couldn't configure the Xerox to work with III's products so we printed to it using the Local Printer for all our printing. It is kind of a mess when you go get your transit slips as they are mixed with the ILL faxes and all the other print jobs staff has sent.

If you get blank or error pages when print, the printer isn't compatible with the III product.

I'm not sure about printing from INNOPAC for windows. Our systems librarian always figures out how to configure them. I just know how to do the Local Printer on Millennium.
