[IUG] Installing Expect at a turnkey site

I would like to install Expect on our server so we can automate some
processes, such as updating lists and initializing our backups.  We are
a turnkey site and it is unclear to me if we can do this without
intervention from III.  Does anyone have tips for accomplishing this (or
words of caution)?  Thanks so much, in advance.
