MOBIUS is a consortium of Missouri college and university libraries, public libraries and the Missouri State Library. Serving more than 750,000 students, faculty, and staff at 60 institutions, MOBIUS’s membership also includes 2 public libraries and the Missouri State Library.<br />
The largest single project for which MOBIUS is responsible is the Common Library Platform (CLP). The CLP creates a virtual collection of the more than 20 million items contained in the libraries of MOBIUS member institutions and creates a single user interface that allows patrons to request library materials using any personal computer in any location with access to the Internet. Requested materials are delivered within one or two days of being requested by the MOBIUS Delivery System.<br />
MOBIUS has an active program of consortial licensing of electronic information resources such as electronic journals. In 2006 MOBIUS started a cooperative collection development project.</p>
<p><span id="more-382"></span>Summary:<br />
This is a management position holding responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing information technology services including the day-to-day operations of the Common Library Platform (CLP) and the investigation and implementation of new technologies to best serve the MOBIUS Consortium members. Work emphasis is placed on improving the organization&#8217;s technical operations and support functions through identifying, developing, and delivering end-products resulting from strategic initiatives; on project administrative and resource development needed to sustain strategic initiatives; and the timely delivery of these services. The position reports to the Executive Director of MOBIUS. The incumbent will function as a member of the organization&#8217;s senior management and routinely interact with clientele, funding representatives and host institution personnel.</p>
<p>Required Qualifications:<br />
Master&#8217;s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school. An advanced degree and/or experience in a different discipline may be substituted at the discretion of the MOBIUS Executive Director. Minimum of five years experience managing a library system. Excellent working knowledge of the current state of library automation. Working knowledge of state of the art computer and telecom technology. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Demonstrated ability to manage subordinates to accomplish organizational goals within limited time frames. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</p>

<p>Position Summary:  The Systems Librarian is responsible for the daily operation, design, support, upgrade, integration, ongoing maintenance, and administration of a variety of library technologies at Mississippi College’s main campus library.  Technologies include hardware and specialized library applications and systems such as the integrated library system, Speed Library’s website, authentication and security systems, and various licensed databases and products.  Reporting to the library director, this position provides both in-house and remote user support; arranges necessary staff training; coordinates the library’s electronic systems and activities with the university’s information technology department; and plans, implements, and evaluates new or expanded electronic/digital services.  The systems librarian also participates in a weekend reference work rotation.</p>
<p><span id="more-381"></span>Salary &#038; Benefits:  This full-time, 12-month, position is available September 2008.  Minimum salary $39,000.  Competitive benefits package includes tuition remission for independents.</p>
<p>QUALIFICATIONS:<br />
Required – ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library or Information Science or technology degree with comparable experience; at least two years’ library experience, preferably in an academic setting; demonstrated experience administering an integrated library system; proven competence with desktop software applications, including productivity and web publishing software; demonstrated experience developing websites; ease of communication with technical and non-technical persons; evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills; pro-active user service philosophy; proven strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills;  demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently; ability to balance priorities, meet deadlines, and prioritize work</p>
<p>Preferred – Working experience with Innovative Interfaces and Java; experience with Web 2.0 technologies, citation management software, and print management software; broad knowledge of current trends in academic libraries, information access, and emerging technologies; experience in training and documentation; experience evaluating, recommending, and implementing emerging technology and appropriate tools to improve operations and services; reference experience in an academic setting.</p>

This unit will undertake projects in digitization, institutional repository development, e-science and local integrated library system enhancement. The Systems Librarian is a 12-month tenure-track position with faculty rank. Clemson library faculty members participate in library-wide planning and governance, work in a shared decision-making environment, and are encouraged to be active in university service and professional organizations.</p>
<p>Position Responsibilities:<br />
Reporting to the Unit Head for Digital Initiatives and Information Technology, administers and provides operational and user support for Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium, the Libraries’ ILS; in consultation with public service units, maintains OPAC interface; serves as contact person with Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Monitors daily status of applications, upgrades software when needed, and coordinates with other campus offices and systems.</p>
<p>Hires, directs and evaluates systems staff who provide Libraries’ desktop, server, and application support, and who manage the joint Libraries/Computer Center Help Desk.</p>
<p>To further information technology service and integration with the Libraries and campus computing, the Systems Librarian is a member of the Libraries’ User Services Group and relevant campus committees, and seeks opportunities to collaborate with university, statewide and national information initiatives.</p>
<p>Maintains current knowledge of library technology trends, including open-source software development, and is active in relevant professional organizations.</p>
<p>Required Qualifications/Experience:<br />
• ALA-accredited master’s degree (or foreign equivalent as determined by ALA-recommended procedures)<br />
• Minimum of two years of experience supporting an integrated library system in a medium to large library environment<br />
• Minimum of one year of recent experience supervising and mentoring staff<br />
• Demonstrated knowledge of information technology standards, protocols, issues and trends<br />
• Experience in developing and sustaining IT projects; knowledge of web design and tools for web editing (i.e. Dreamweaver/Photoshop)<br />
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication (oral and written) skills<br />

<p><span id="more-377"></span>Leads daily operations of the Special Collections Department, which includes the Kenneth J. La Budde Special Collections and internationally known Marr Sound Archives.  In conjunction with the Assistant Director for Public Services and Special Collections, formulates  the department&#8217;s strategic plan within the context of the University Libraries&#8217; strategic plan.  Sets priorities for the collections and their preservation, management and development of dedicated and knowledgeable staff, and management of digital initiatives.  Works closely with faculty, students, scholars and researchers to develop new teaching, learning and research opportunities using the Special Collections as an integral part of the overall library resources and services.  Successful candidate will have an opportunity to transition the department-staff and collections-to shared space that will be featured in a major renovation and expansion of the Miller Nichols Library.  </p>
<p>The Kansas City region&#8217;s rich array of cultural and academic organizations provides established partnerships and offers many new opportunities to partner with professional colleagues on events, exhibits, programming, grants and digitization projects.  The successful candidate will actively participate with UMKC library leadership in the stewardship of established and potential donors. </p>
<p>The Special Collections at UMKC houses the Snyder Collection of Americana, the Suzanne Statland Collection on Holocaust Studies, the Richard W. Bolling Papers, the Truman Library&#8217;s Student Research File, and a number of other smaller collections. The department also offers marvelous research opportunities in music history, especially American music history and the history of American jazz.  The Marr Sound Archives, a unit of the Special Collections Department, holds over 300,000 sound  recordings in formats that include LPs, 78s, 45s, cylinders, transcription discs, instantaneous cut discs and open-reel tapes. The focus of the collection is the American experience as reflected in recorded sound.  The UMKC University Libraries were recently awarded a $502,000 Andrew W. Mellon grant to catalog the J. An enthusiasm for change is required as the Washburn Libraries chart their future for the 21st Century learning environment.  The successful candidate will serve as the Systems Administrator for the Topeka ATLAS consortium that shares an Innovative Interfaces, Inc. system, will act as the representative to the Innovative Users Group and serve as liaison between the Library and Information Systems and Services.  The Technology Librarian will be a collaborative partner in technological outreach in a variety of areas, including but not limited to giving support for instructional design initiatives and website innovation.</p>
<p><span id="more-376"></span>Washburn University is a comprehensive Masters degree granting institution of about 7400 students, located in the Capital City of Kansas, Topeka. <p>Requirements:<br />
•	An ALA-accredited MLS or a degree in Computer Information Systems, with a demonstrated commitment to the library as a central institution within the life of the university<br />
•	Strong knowledge of emerging electronic information and outreach technology and its implications for the University community<br />
•	Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and applications software problems to ensure a 24/7 connectivity to the Library for its patrons<br />

<p><strong>THE POSITION</strong><br />
The City of Mountain View Public Library is seeking applicants for the position of Supervising Librarian in Support Services, a division of the Library that includes cataloging, technical services, acquisitions and interlibrary loan. </p>
<p><span id="more-375"></span>The Supervising Librarian reports to the Library Services Manager for Support Services and  technology. The individual in this position performs complex professional work and participates in  librarywide planning and goal setting.  The Supervising Librarian has responsibility for planning,  organizing and overseeing the operations of the Support Services work group and leads staff in evaluating, improving and streamlining their work. Duties will include supervising, training and evaluating staff; identifying and implementing new technologies; maintaining the integrity of the on-line catalog; special projects and reports; cataloging; limited work on a public service desk; and other duties as required.</p>
<p>The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and will be willing to try new service models and technology-based solutions. The Library&#8217;s focus is on the delivery of exceptional customer service both to patrons and staff. The Library has recently implemented RFID technology, installed an automated materials handling system and continues to provide more functions and services in the Library&#8217;s ILS.</p>
<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</strong><br />
Training and experience equivalent to three years of increasingly responsible professional librarian experience in a technical services position. Two years supervisory experience as a librarian is highly desirable. Equivalent to a bachelor&#8217;s degree from an accredited college or university with major course  work in library science or a related field. A master&#8217;s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution is highly desirable.</p>
<p><strong>MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS</strong><br />
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Requires knowledge of principles and practices of cataloging, MARC  record structure, Dewey Decimal System, AACR2 and OCLC Connexion. Experience in acquisitions,  cataloging and interlibrary loan is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have experience using  Innovative Interfaces Millennium software for cataloging and acquisitions.</p>
<p>SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; highly organized; commitment to teamwork; motivated self-starter requiring minimal supervision; ability to multi-task and meet  deadlines; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain  effective working relationships; flexibility, a positive attitude with a sense of humor.</p>

6. Participate in the Information Literacy program teaching about 20 class sessions per semester and offering instruction to First Year Studies classes.<br />
