Scope of Job:

• Responsible for the support, maintenance, and functional enhancement of the various modules of the library information system including Circulation, Acquisitions, Reserves, Cataloging, Serials, and ILL.
• System maintenance and administration tasks such as user accounts, patron loads, loan rules, patron types, location codes, etc.
• This position will also be involved in technology services, supplies and equipment ordering, including obtaining specs, getting quotes form vendors, and making recommendations.

DIRECTOR, LIBRARY & INFORMATION SERVICES

Under the direction of the City Manager and the advice of the Library Board, the Director of Library and Information Services is responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all public library services, facilities, and programs.

Develops a vision and strategic plan for the library system for approval by the City Manager and Library Board.

Plans for facilities development and financing, working with City Financial advisors, administration architects, planners, and interested members of the community.

Plans for and facilitates regular bond referenda, grant writing, and fund raising to secure county, state, federal, and private funding for materials, equipment, and technology. Acts as regional leader to carry out projects, including follow-up to advise county librarians on proper administration and expending of bond funds.

Maintains a presence in the community ensuring the success of the library’s partnerships and other relationships through public relations and library marketing skills. Develops partnerships with other library systems, government agencies, local business, and community organizations to improve services to the community. Represents the City’s interests on a local, state, and national level on boards and committees to advocate for public libraries.
