MOBIUS is a consortium of Missouri college and university libraries, public libraries and the Missouri State Library. Serving more than 750,000 students, faculty, and staff at 60 institutions, MOBIUS’s membership also includes 2 public libraries and the Missouri State Library.
The largest single project for which MOBIUS is responsible is the Common Library Platform (CLP). The CLP creates a virtual collection of the more than 20 million items contained in the libraries of MOBIUS member institutions and creates a single user interface that allows patrons to request library materials using any personal computer in any location with access to the Internet. Requested materials are delivered within one or two days of being requested by the MOBIUS Delivery System.
MOBIUS has an active program of consortial licensing of electronic information resources such as electronic journals. In 2006 MOBIUS started a cooperative collection development project.

Dynamic urban academic library seeks innovative and knowledgeable leader with strong public service orientation and experience with rare book, manuscript archival materials, and sound recording collections for the position of Head of Special Collections at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) University Libraries. Position reports to the Assistant Director for Public Services and Special Collections and manages daily operations of the Kenneth J. LaBudde Department of Special Collections, which includes the Marr Sound Archives. In conjunction with the Assistant Director, is responsible for donor relations and strategic planning for the department within the context of the University Libraries’ strategic plan. Set priorities for the collections and its preservation, management and development of staff, and management of digital initiatives. Hire and train temporary staff and/or student workers to assist with the processing of faculty and student works into the repository. Interact with faculty to explain processing procedures, to give campus talks and general outreach regarding repository functions, and to act as the liaison between various campus entities that have a stake in the repository including the library, faculty, administration, information technology and students. Required: ALA-accredited MLS; previous experience or education involving MARC 21, Dublin Core or another meta data standard. Desired: Direct involvement with institutional repository projects, advanced degree in addition to the MLS in a research-based discipline, at least one year experience working in a college or university library, technical computer skills involving knowledge of basic programming or database principles.
