Digital Initiatives & Systems Librarian/Coordinator (University of the Arts)

The University of the Arts University Libraries seeks an innovative, creative, and service-oriented individual to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise digital initiatives including the Libraries’ Web site and use of Web 2.0 tools, manage its electronic collections and services, and provide overall administrative support for the Libraries’ computer systems including its Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Millennium integrated library system and digital content management systems (MDID and CONTENTdm). The incumbent will also coordinate support of the Libraries’ electronic systems and activities with the University’s information technology department. Serves, with other librarians, as an advisor to the Director of University Libraries on overall library policies and services, specifically providing advice and expertise on emerging technological trends and developments in academic libraries. Reports to the Director of University Libraries.

Digital Projects Librarian (NYU Health Sciences Libraries)

The NYU Health Sciences Libraries invite applicants for the position of Digital Projects Librarian. The Digital Projects Librarian will join the Library Medical Informatics Group (LMIG) in the provision of high-quality computing services to the faculty and staff of the Libraries, as well as to the Libraries’ constituencies. The Digital Projects Librarian will take the lead role in coordinating the design, creation and maintenance of the Libraries’ digital projects in a manner that is consistent with NYU Medical Center policies and supports library resources of the NYU Health Sciences Libraries at the NYU School of Medicine, College of Dentistry and Nursing, Bellevue Hospital and the Hospital for Joint Diseases as well as the library’s three consumer health branches.

The Access PA Millennium System is a growing integrated library system with 65 participating members at present, using Innovative Interfaces Millennium software. Under the direction of the Associate Director, this full-time position will be responsible for training the staff of member libraries in use of the software. The position requires experience in training and an in-depth knowledge of the Innovative Interfaces Millennium software modules. This is a permanent appointment dependent upon funding by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Firm Technical Services Librarian

Large DC office of international law firm seeks experienced Technical Services Librarian to serve as the Firm library’s principal specialist for the functions specific to cataloging, serials and maintenance of access to the library’s intellectual resources. Primary responsibilities include working with the Systems and Technology Manager to ensure overall operational efficiency of the Technical Services department and establish Firmwide policies, standards, and procedures in the area of technical services. In addition, this position performs daily technical services work in an area of expertise (cataloging and serials); collects and analyzes Technical Services’ statistics and then prepares reports; and assists in providing direction and training to all Firm library technical service staff.
Successful candidates must have excellent communication (oral-written) skills; possess the ability to work independently; demonstrate initiative; set priorities and see projects through completion; meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities; handle several tasks simultaneously; and work within a team setting. Masters in Library or Information Science; working knowledge of MARC, AACR2, OCLC Connexion and other library technical service tools; and a minimum three years of progressively responsible technical services experience in an automated environment required. Law library and knowledge of and experience with integrated library systems, such as Innovative Interfaces are preferred.

Mount Saint Mary College seeks a creative, technologically savvy, and pro-active librarian to manage and maintain all aspects of Curtin Library’s integrated library management system (currently III Millennium) and to direct all cataloging activities. Reporting to the library director, the systems and catalog librarian provides leadership in enhancing and improving access to library resources through the full utilization of the Millennium system, user-focused development of the online catalog, and the maintenance of an accurate and relevant bibliographic database. Works collaboratively with librarians and staff to explore, learn, and implement new technologies, with a focus on the library system and OPAC. Troubleshoots library hardware and software and works closely with the college’s Information Technology staff. Supervises the copy cataloger and performs original cataloging. Keeps current with trends, innovations, and best practices affecting library systems and catalogs. Participates in the library’s instruction program, reference service, and collection development. Is expected to be professionally active and active in college service.
