Technical Services Manager (Kitchigami Regional Library)

Kitchigami Regional Library invites applications for the position of Manager of Technical Services. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and coordinating the regional library’s technical functions, including acquisitions, cataloging, processing, interlibrary loan and delivery services, ILS and network. The successful candidate will utilize experience in ILS and network management, cataloging and related functions, and communications to achieve the public service goals of the library and its branches. Experience with III Millennium an advantage.

Kitchigami Regional Library provides public library service through nine community branches and a mobile library to five counties in north-central Minnesota: Beltrami, Cass, Crow Wing, Hubbard and Wadena.

Qualifications: ALA MLS and three years of public library technical services and supervisory experience. Valid driver’s license.

Director of Technical Services (University of Nevada Las Vegas)

RESPONSIBILITIES: The UNLV Libraries seeks an innovative and future-oriented library leader to become the Director of Technical Services, a division of the Libraries comprised of two departments: Materials Ordering and Receiving (MOR) and Bibliographic and Metadata Services (BMS). This senior management position will manage and supervise the interdepartmental work processes for the acquisition, licensing, description, classification, and maintenance of library collections of all types and in all formats. The UNLV Libraries currently expends 75% of a $6 million collections budget on electronic resources, and the Director of Technical Services will focus the Division’s attention on the life cycle of electronic information including authentication, linking, and serials management. The incumbent will work closely with the Head of Collection Development and other library colleagues in managing and tracking the collections budget and overseeing related data collection. The Director will also collaborate to address evolving developments in library technologies particularly as applied to discovery and access tools, integrated library systems, acquisition and cataloging of materials, and electronic resources management.

Serials Librarian (St. Edward’s University)

Scarborough-Phillips Library seeks a service-oriented, enthusiastic librarian to manage print and electronic serials: identifying new resources, implementing access to online serials subscriptions, negotiating licensing agreements with vendors, managing invoicing, collecting usage statistics, and collecting and disseminating subscription information to librarians for review as needed. Manage operation of serials department including daily processing, binding, claiming, invoicing, and other serials-related functions. Supervise one student worker. Collaborate with technical services/electronic resources as needed in areas of overlap. Prepare collection development budget recommendations and reports and drafts fund allocation proposals for the Library Director each fiscal year. Closely monitor entire acquisitions budget and submits both oral and written reports on a regular basis. Stay current with trends in electronic and print serials. Develop library collection in assigned subject areas and acts as liaison to faculty in these areas. Participate in reference and library instruction as assigned. Hours may include some evenings and weekends.

The University of California, Irvine Libraries seek an energetic and enthusiastic librarian for the position of Principal Monographs Cataloger to provide leadership and expertise in the cataloging of monograph publications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of the Cataloging Department, the Principal Monographs Cataloger coordinates and participates in the bibliographic control of monographs and provides leadership within the Cataloging Department and throughout the Libraries for the formulation of policies and procedures related to public access to monographic publications. Performs original and complex copy cataloging for all types of monographs in a variety of formats, languages and subjects using the Library of Congress and National Library of Medicine classification and subject headings.  Provides management, supervision, and evaluation of 7.5 FTE staff who produce original bibliographic and authority records for monographs in the full range of formats and a wide variety of languages.  Provides staff training and serves as a resource person regarding monographic cataloging within the Cataloging Department and throughout the Libraries.  Works collaboratively with other Cataloging Department section leaders and participates in departmental management as a member of the Cataloging Policy Committee.  Participates in library committees, task forces, and special projects, particularly those related to monographic cataloging.  Monitors trends and maintains currency in emerging issues in bibliographic control of monographs.
