Technical Services Manager (Kitchigami Regional Library)

Kitchigami Regional Library invites applications for the position of Manager of Technical Services. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and coordinating the regional library’s technical functions, including acquisitions, cataloging, processing, interlibrary loan and delivery services, ILS and network. The successful candidate will utilize experience in ILS and network management, cataloging and related functions, and communications to achieve the public service goals of the library and its branches. Experience with III Millennium an advantage.

Kitchigami Regional Library provides public library service through nine community branches and a mobile library to five counties in north-central Minnesota: Beltrami, Cass, Crow Wing, Hubbard and Wadena.

Qualifications: ALA MLS and three years of public library technical services and supervisory experience. Valid driver’s license.

DIRECTOR, LIBRARY & INFORMATION SERVICES

Under the direction of the City Manager and the advice of the Library Board, the Director of Library and Information Services is responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all public library services, facilities, and programs.

Develops a vision and strategic plan for the library system for approval by the City Manager and Library Board.

Plans for facilities development and financing, working with City Financial advisors, administration architects, planners, and interested members of the community.

Plans for and facilitates regular bond referenda, grant writing, and fund raising to secure county, state, federal, and private funding for materials, equipment, and technology. Acts as regional leader to carry out projects, including follow-up to advise county librarians on proper administration and expending of bond funds.

Maintains a presence in the community ensuring the success of the library’s partnerships and other relationships through public relations and library marketing skills. Develops partnerships with other library systems, government agencies, local business, and community organizations to improve services to the community. Represents the City’s interests on a local, state, and national level on boards and committees to advocate for public libraries.

The Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon is seeking applicants for a full-time Cataloging Manager position. This position supervises seven catalogers who provide bibliographic description and classification, according to library standards for new books and other library materials to ensure that new materials are added to the library collection in an accurate and timely manner. The Cataloging Manager administers the integrity of the online library catalog by keeping authority records for authors and subjects current and accurate. This position provides leadership by developing and managing responsive methods of bibliographic control. Requires three years of experience as a professional cataloger in a large library, including original and copy cataloging. A minimum of one year significant supervisory experience or serving as a project lead worker is required. Cataloging electronic resources is desired.
