Digital Initiatives & Systems Librarian/Coordinator (University of the Arts)

The University of the Arts University Libraries seeks an innovative, creative, and service-oriented individual to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise digital initiatives including the Libraries’ Web site and use of Web 2.0 tools, manage its electronic collections and services, and provide overall administrative support for the Libraries’ computer systems including its Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Millennium integrated library system and digital content management systems (MDID and CONTENTdm). The incumbent will also coordinate support of the Libraries’ electronic systems and activities with the University’s information technology department. Serves, with other librarians, as an advisor to the Director of University Libraries on overall library policies and services, specifically providing advice and expertise on emerging technological trends and developments in academic libraries. Reports to the Director of University Libraries.

Digital Projects Librarian (NYU Health Sciences Libraries)

The NYU Health Sciences Libraries invite applicants for the position of Digital Projects Librarian. The Digital Projects Librarian will join the Library Medical Informatics Group (LMIG) in the provision of high-quality computing services to the faculty and staff of the Libraries, as well as to the Libraries’ constituencies. The Digital Projects Librarian will take the lead role in coordinating the design, creation and maintenance of the Libraries’ digital projects in a manner that is consistent with NYU Medical Center policies and supports library resources of the NYU Health Sciences Libraries at the NYU School of Medicine, College of Dentistry and Nursing, Bellevue Hospital and the Hospital for Joint Diseases as well as the library’s three consumer health branches.

Head, Metadata Services & Digital Projects

The University of Oregon (Eugene) Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Head, Metadata Services & Digital Projects (MSDP). Departmental services include metadata creation and maintenance, coordination and support of digital collections, and conservation and re-formatting of library resources. This position will have overall responsibility for: providing innovative leadership and vision in the provision of bibliographic services; providing leadership for traditional and non-traditional metadata creation and management in the face of changing standards, user expectations and tools; overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the libraries’ digital collections; collaborating in building and maintaining Scholars Bank, the UO’s institutional repository; providing leadership in the preservation of the libraries’ collections (print, non-print, and digital); serving as the libraries’ metadata liaison to campus and external grant-funded digital projects; supervising seven ranked librarians, two managers, and 21 classified support staff. The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment. Reports to the Associate University Librarian for Collections & Access.

Web & Digital Library Specialist (Center for Research Libraries)

WEB AND DIGITAL LIBRARY SPECIALIST
The Center for Research Libraries is a consortium of more than 200 leading U.S. and Canadian academic and research libraries based adjacent to the University of Chicago’s Hyde Park campus.
Working under the direction of the Director of Information Systems, the candidate selected will design, develop and implement Web enabled solutions for grant and non-grant funded projects and provide technical expertise to support digital conversion and delivery projects. In addition to determine specifications, developing and implementing new or enhanced Web applications, the position is also responsible for maintaining and updating existing Web applications and support a robust Web hosting environment.
Digital delivery accountability includes participate in hardware/software evaluations, testing and implementing scan and post processing strategies, inspecting the quality of scans from in-house and out-sources productions, monitoring the performance of digital conversion equipment and contacting system vendor for problem resolution and upgrades.

INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY & DIGITAL COLLECTIONS LIBRARIAN (Position #00036089) Lead the day-to-day production and organization of the Scholars’ Mine, UMR’s new Institutional Repository (http://scholarsmine.umr.edu). Hire and train temporary staff and/or student workers to assist with the processing of faculty and student works into the repository. Interact with faculty to explain processing procedures, to give campus talks and general outreach regarding repository functions, and to act as the liaison between various campus entities that have a stake in the repository including the library, faculty, administration, information technology and students. Required: ALA-accredited MLS; previous experience or education involving MARC 21, Dublin Core or another meta data standard. Desired: Direct involvement with institutional repository projects, advanced degree in addition to the MLS in a research-based discipline, at least one year experience working in a college or university library, technical computer skills involving knowledge of basic programming or database principles. Proven project management skills on multi-year projects.
