Technical Services Librarian (Athabasca University)

Technical Services Librarian, Library Services
Reporting to the Head, Technical Services and Systems, the Technical Services Librarian has a variety of responsibilities within the Technical Services Unit of the Library including: original cataloguing, managing the authority control activities, and assisting with database maintenance tasks. The Technical Services Librarian is the primary back-up position for the Head, Technical Services and Systems. The incumbent assists with various duties relating to development and maintenance of the library’s INNOPAC Integrated Library System including the Electronic Resources Management module. The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution plus one to two years of experience working in an academic library with a strong service orientation. Experience cataloguing in an academic library and familiarity with current standards, practices and trends in technical services and with integrated library systems (preferably Innovative’s Millennium) would be highly desirable. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Simon Fraser University Library invites applications for the continuing, full time position of Monograph Cataloguer. The Cataloguer will catalogue items in all formats; provide training and be a resource person for the Monograph Cataloguing and Preparations Units, engage in projects to analyse and import metadata into the catalogue, and assist in developing workflows to maximize efficiency within the Division. This position reports to the Head, Cataloguing Division.
We seek a dynamic, flexible cataloguing specialist with a strong background in automated systems and keen interest in broader issues of bibliographic control. A demonstrated commitment to and success in consultative management is essential. The successful applicant for this position will possess excellent communication, training and computer skills.

This is a three month full time position with the possibility of becoming permanent depending on funding. The primary focus of this term position will be to assist with projects for the Cataloguing backlog reduction project. The Cataloguer will also catalogue monographs of all types; provide training and be a resource person for the Monograph Cataloguing and Preparations Units, and engage in projects to analyse and import metadata into the catalogue. This position reports to the Head, Cataloguing Division.

Brock University’s James A. Gibson Library seeks a dynamic, service-oriented librarian for the position of Head, Loan Services. Functions of the Loan Services Department include all aspects of circulation, course reserves, interlibrary loan, and the maintenance of the Library’s collections. The Head, Loan Services is responsible for the management of a major front-line service, providing leadership in the development and provision of responsive and user-friendly services to support the use of library collections and study facilities. The successful candidate is expected to explore and implement technologies to streamline and enhance departmental services. The Head, Loan Services has responsibility for the hiring, training and supervision of departmental staff. In addition, the incumbent will participate in the provision of reference and information services, and will have liaison responsibilities in assigned subject areas. The department head will also be engaged in the Library’s planning and decision-making processes, and will pursue appropriate professional and scholarly activities. This is a full-time probationary position leading to permanence, reporting to the Associate University Librarian, Services.
