Learning Commons Librarian (Carroll College)
Description: Coordinate Supplemental Instruction program and content tutoring at the college library. Participate in collection development for several academic programs and information literacy program instruction. Serve on college committees and participate in professional development opportunities. Work schedule includes one evening per week and one Sunday per month.
Classification: Administrative staff with faculty status
2080 hours per year
Duties
1. Recruit, select and train student leaders [facilitators] for library academic support service programs.
2. Collaborate with the library staff, teaching faculty, and administrative staff on matters related to academic support services.
3. Analyze data generated by academic support services.
4. Serve regularly at the Learning Commons and Reference Desks as assigned.
5. Serve as library liaison to assigned academic programs—maintaining regular contact with them, developing the collection in ways that serve their courses, and helping their students to use the library effectively.
6. Participate in the Information Literacy program teaching about 20 class sessions per semester and offering instruction to First Year Studies classes.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
• MLS from an ALA accredited MLS program
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Excellent computer skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to adjust to changing work environment and to respond to changing institutional needs
Preferred:
• Natural or Health Science background
• Supervisory experience
• Teaching experience
