The Copiague Memorial Public Library is seeking a part-time (17 hours per week) Computer Technician.

The Library’s Systems staff is responsible for the purchase, installation, and maintenance of the Library’s software and hardware systems. The Library maintains public access and staff workstations and operates a variety of network systems.
The ideal candidate should be eager to learn and able to work with both Library patrons and staff.

Salary commensurate with experience, range $18.00 - $22.00 per hour.

This position requires nights and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be eligible for the position under Civil Service Guidelines: Candidates must have graduated from high school or possess a high school equivalency diploma and have one year of technical computer experience with includes monitoring, maintaining or repairing computer systems and/or experience in the modification of such systems.

Dynamic urban academic library seeks innovative and knowledgeable leader with strong public service orientation and experience with rare book, manuscript archival materials, and sound recording collections for the position of Head of Special Collections at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) University Libraries. Position reports to the Assistant Director for Public Services and Special Collections and manages daily operations of the Kenneth J. LaBudde Department of Special Collections, which includes the Marr Sound Archives. In conjunction with the Assistant Director, is responsible for donor relations and strategic planning for the department within the context of the University Libraries’ strategic plan. Set priorities for the collections and its preservation, management and development of staff, and management of digital initiatives. Works closely with faculty, students, scholars and researchers to develop new teaching, learning and research opportunities using the Special Collections as an integral part of the overall library resources and services. Computer system technician to operate and maintain the KRLS Innovative Interfaces, Inc. integrated library system, related server and network technology, and client PCs including remote access, from Pine River headquarters. Windows client, network technology and html experience required. Regular part-time for 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday and on-call as required.

Responsibilities:

Successful completion of criminal background check required for final candidate.

Responsible for all aspects of ordering library materials, processing invoices, and reconciling accounts for the Law School Library. Implement electronic ordering and send electronic or manual orders weekly. Conduct search on the INNOPAC to ensure that an order is required. Coordinate with vendors to verify price, availability and currency of new and replacement materials, and to reserve out of print materials. Maintain accurate and clear standing order records for serials. Assign appropriate fund codes to orders. Meet monthly encumbrance of funds to insure each categorical allocation will be spent by the end of the fiscal year. Follow up on orders that are not received within two months after order. Create new vendor records as needed and update vendor records as new information become available. Process invoices for payment, including verifying receipt of materials, correct vendor and fund coding, and accurate order for assigned vendors. Obtain payment authorizations. Send signed invoices to the accounts payable office for payment. Assist with maintaining financial accounts for library funds on INNOPAC in collaboration with Business and Financial Technician. Encumber to the library budget all proposed expenditures and post expenditures to the library budget on INNOPAC. Create and maintain vendor files and vendor data on INNOPAC. Compare library material funds against the Business Office reports. Reconcile vendor statements against files and resolve discrepancies. Perform additional duties as assigned and required to support the Law Library.

Northeastern University Libraries seek an energetic, creative, and self-motivated individual to join its newly re-energized, service-oriented, and forward-looking Technical Services team.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Library’s Ordering and Metadata Management (OMM) unit within the Non-Print Department, including: the ordering and purchase of e-resources and media materials of all kinds; a leadership role in the provision of original cataloging and metadata for non-print materials and digital projects; and license and vendor negotiations. Assigns staff responsibilities and duties; sets daily and long-term priorities; manages workflow; identifies and resolves problems; plans, organizes, and oversees projects; and ensures that the OMM group runs efficiently and smoothly. Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating 5-9 FTE staff, planning training programs, and producing training materials. Works closely with the Assistant Head, Resource and Receipt Control to coordinate and plan Department work and will be expected to have a broad understanding of all Department activities and related technical services best practices.
