Massachusetts General Hospital/Treadwell Library Systems Librarian Position
The Treadwell Library of the Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a service-oriented and energetic Systems Librarian who will be responsible for the overall management and support of the library’s Innovative Interfaces Library System and for the technical aspects of electronic resources management.
Responsibilities include: implements ILS upgrades, modifications and enhancements, functions as point person for ILS related issues and problems, evaluates and coordinates ILS-related training needs; works with and backs up Web Master /Library Systems Technologist, collaborates with other library staff to ensure that library’s web portal’s content is current, accurate, and accessible; investigates, evaluates, and implements automated solutions, including OpenURL link resolvers, electronic resource management products, meta-search tools, digital library standards, Web 2.0 and other emerging technologies. Supports other library applications, including but not limited to Ariel, DOCLINE, OCLC, and QUOSA. Incumbent will also provide several hours/weeks of research and reference services, is responsible for collection development in specific subject areas and participates in the library’s teaching program.
Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited program; 2 years professional library experience, preferably in health sciences environment; experience with ILS, HTML, XML, RSS feeds, blogs, open URL resolvers and metadata formats; experience with searching online databases (Ovid, PubMed, RefWorks), knowledge of and interest in emerging technologies; excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills; ability to excel both independently and as team member in a collaborative and changing environment. Must have a strong customer service attitude.

The mission of the Treadwell Library (http://massgeneral.org/library) is to be the center of excellence for managing the knowledge resources essential to the hospital’s high quality patient care, teaching, and research. The library staff includes 9 master’s prepared librarians, a computer Systems Technologist/Webmaster, and 12 support staff members who provide a wide range of information services. The library’s collection contains 1500 journal subscriptions and 15,000 books.
