THE POSITION:
This position is located in the Main Public Library, downtown, supporting computer systems operations for the entire library system.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
* Develop and support web applications for both public and staff use.

* Develop custom reports and other enhancements for library applications.
* Evaluate new applications and technologies for use by library staff and patrons.

* Use data analysis and management skills to help optimize library resources, including budget, online databases, and public and staff access equipment.
* Participate in other system-wide major project implementations when required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would prepare the applicant to perform the duties of the position at the appropriate level. Applicants would typically have considerable (4 or more years) experience with various programming languages, relational databases, and web application frameworks.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* Experience developing with Ruby, Javascript, PHP, VisualBasic.
* Experience developing with Rails, ASP.

* Experience developing with SQL Server 2000.

* Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and XML.

* Working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems.

* Proficient user of and developer for Internet Explorer, Mozilla, and Safari.
* Experience with library automation systems, particularly Innovative Interfaces’ Millenium system.

* Ability to acquire knowledge and solve problems through independent research and logical thinking.

* Working knowledge of applied statistics.
