Bowman Library Access Services Assistant/Night Manager (Part-time) - MenloCollege, Atherton CA
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as the staff support for the Bowman Library Technical and Access services programs providing both physical and intellectual access to the Library’s collections. Provides direct circulation and information services to the public. Key work activities include assisting with acquisition, processing and maintenance of materials for Library collections.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collections/Acquisitions:
- Maintenance and check-in, shelf preparation and claiming for print serials;
- Receiving, routing and physically processing new Library materials, including print and media;
- Completion of monthly program statistics;
Collections/Processing:
- Assist with Reserve collection processing and maintenance each semester, including processing and scanning of documents for Electronic Course Reserves;
Collections/Maintenance:
- Prepare and process circulation notices;
- Perform shelving and collection inventory;
Public Service Duties:
- Provides direct circulation and course reserve services;
- Monitors and provides building security during hours of Library operation, particularly evenings;
- Supervises student assistants providing circulation, reserves and shelving support during evening hours;
- Provides directional and catalog assistance as needed;
- Following established procedures, closes and secures Library building as necessary;
- Other duties as assigned.
General Duties:
- Sorts and distributes Library mail;
- Participates in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of two years support staff or paraprofessional experience in an academic library or related environment. Experience performing library services using an integrated library system (Innovative Interfaces INNOPAC/Millennium preferred); familiarity with Windows software; accurate typing skills and legible handwriting; a demonstrated knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system; commitment to a service-oriented environment; proven ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to succeed in a rapidly changing environment.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree or completion of a Library Technician Certificate.
Salary:
$12-$15 per hr. depending upon experience. Position is half-time and nonexempt.
