The Julien and Virginia Cornell Law Library is seeking a team-oriented individual to lead the acquisitions component of collection development, including electronic and print format materials..

This position is also responsible for library-wide technology support (not including ILS administration.) We are looking for someone with experience and a strong interest in technology applications for an academic library; including identifying, monitoring, evaluating, recommending, and implementing emerging library technologies.

Positions requires: MLIS or MLS, knowledge of standard cataloging practices, acquisitions, and proficiency in MS Office. Experience in an academic law library and Innovative Interfaces Millenium preferred.

The Position: Under the supervision of the Administrative Manager this position shares responsibility for the support of the University Library’s services, programs and mission. Performs various duties on behalf of librarians and patrons in both public and technical services. The Library Assistant processes, maintains, searches and retrieves library materials, using a variety of library applications and equipment; enters and retrieves data from library computer systems; and investigates problems as they arise. Responsibilities for technical service duties include performing specialized duties related to cataloging, acquisition, and organization of library materials in all formats, database maintenance, binding/repair and special projects as assigned. In addition the Library Assistant performs public service duties that include assisting patrons online and with physical library material; coverage of the library’s public service points; and assisting patrons with the use of equipment. Other duties include providing work direction to student employees; participating in department and library-wide meetings and serving as needed in other capacities throughout the library. This position is expected to work a schedule that may include early mornings or evenings and weekends to meet operational needs.

This is a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, leading to tenure. The Director will provide administrative oversight for the Public Services division and will direct the development, implementation, and marketing of new and existing programs to provide user-centered services, reference, and instruction. The successful candidate will be a member of the Library’s senior administrative group, sharing responsibility for the overall direction of the University Library with other key managers including Directors for Technical Services and Technology, Archives and Special Collections, and Administrative Services. Loyola Marymount University’s Von der Ahe Library is now recruiting for a Library Budget Analyst.

The description is as follows:
Annually process or supervise the processing of approximately 2,000 book and media invoices totaling 15,000 items, 400 journal invoices totaling 20,000 subscriptions, and 500 invoices for services, supplies and other expenditures. Resolve invoice and payment problems. Monitor spending, reconcile expenses in general ledger for all accounts, and produce quarterly financial reports. Apply knowledge of two online accounting systems - the university’s METAVIEWER and library’s LINUS (Millennium) systems - to determine routine and complex quarter-end and year-end accounting entries, including accruals for journals subscriptions. Participate in the annual budgeting process. Knowledge of Innovative Interfaces, Inc. (INNOPAC/Millennium) integrated library system acquisitions modules preferred.
