Back-up for weekend shift, on rotation .Access Services makes available library materials for circulation, maintains inventory control over all circulation materials, maintains physical collections, makes photo ID cards, and serves as a public contact/public relations area within the Library. The purpose of this position is to oversee the photo ID operation while working with the rest of the Access Services staff, including serving at the Circulation Desk and being available for evening/weekend rotation as needed.

MONOGRAPH CATALOGUER
Simon Fraser University Library invites applications for the position of Monograph Cataloguer. This is a three month full time position with the possibility of becoming permanent depending on funding. The primary focus of this term position will be to assist with projects for the Cataloguing backlog reduction project. The Cataloguer will also catalogue monographs of all types; provide training and be a resource person for the Monograph Cataloguing and Preparations Units, and engage in projects to analyse and import metadata into the catalogue. This position reports to the Head, Cataloguing Division.
We seek a dynamic, flexible cataloguing specialist with a strong background in automated systems and keen interest in broader issues of bibliographic control. A demonstrated commitment to and success in consultative management is essential. The successful applicant for this position will possess excellent communication, training and computer skills.

Responsibilities:

Provides leadership for the overall planning, organization, direction, coordination and assessment of the department’s functional areas including reference services, library instruction, circulation and stack maintenance, library reserves, interlibrary loan, document delivery services, and support of the university’s distance programs. Ensures strong customer orientation in all operations of the department. Manages the department’s financial and human resources and monitors ongoing job audits, performance evaluations, promotion, tenure post-tenure review processes. Plans and coordinates quality service improvement and assessment projects. Coordinates departmental processes and work flows within the activities of other functional areas of the Library and works collaboratively with other university departments. Supports and promotes professional development for all Public Services staff. Prepares departmental planning documents, including strategic planning, budget, and annual unit action planning materials. Oversees collection development and management of the Reference Collection’s print, digital and multimedia resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in Library Science, five years experience in a public library environment and one year of experience doing original cataloging required. Supervisory experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of library technical services administration including personnel rules, budgeting, strategic planning and effective employee supervision; techniques and practices for efficient and cost effective management of resources.
