ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
The Delaware County Library System Administrative Headquarters is a department of county government charged with supporting public library service to 550,000 county residents. DCLS is designated by the State Library of Pennsylvania as a District Library Center. Funding is received from the State of Pennsylvania, the County of Delaware and various grant funds. The 26 public libraries in the county are member of DCLS. Each library maintains its autonomy, yet cooperates with the programs and services offered by DCLS. A seven-member board of library directors sets policy for DCLS. Four non-public libraries are associate members of DCLS and contract to receive services.
The DCLS Administrative Headquarters provides a variety of services for the member libraries. Among these services are: an integrated, automated circulation system, delivery, consulting, database searching, rotating collection, etc. DCLS is responsible for maintaining the union catalog and cataloging services. A wide area information network known as the EIN (electronic information network) provides all member libraries with Internet access and connections to library databases.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the DCLS Circulation Services Coordinator: assures that the staff of the DCLS member libraries are properly trained in the operation of the shared, integrated automated system and additional computer programs, including Microsoft Office. Coordinates all continuing education activities sponsored by DCLS.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

. Attends training sessions as needed.

. Identifies users’ training needs and develops programs to meet those needs.

. Becomes fully familiar with the functionality of automated system, and how it is used in libraries.

. Conducts training sessions on use of automated system in member libraries and DCLS training lab.

. Assists with operation of automated system . Answers questions regarding operation of automated system.

. Reports on progress and maintains relevant statistics.

. Creates and maintains users’ manuals.

. Provides training on MS Office packages.

. Coordinates with other DCLS staff to meet training needs.

. Coordinates continuing education activities.

. Coordinates scholarship program.
Qualifications:

. MLS - or education degree preferred.

. Familiarity with library automated systems preferably Innovative Interfaces Inc.

. Familiarity with MS Windows operating system and MS Office.

. Ability to communicate and educate staff and coworkers.

. Skill in training users, including small group workshops and individual coaching.

. Ability to work in a cooperative team environment.

. Organizational skills.

. Problem solving skills.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to travel to member libraries and attend outside training.
Conditions:

35 hours week. Normal working hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, some additional evening hours may be required.
County residency required.
