Director of Libraries, Mercyhurst College
LOCATION: Hammermill Library, Erie campus

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Vice President for Academic Affairs
Mercyhurst College seeks an experienced and creative professional to lead Hammermill Library. The successful candidate will be able to develop and articulate a clear vision of the library’s role in fulfilling the college’s educational mission and strategic goals.
REQUIREMENTS: Master of Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program; at least five years experience in an academic library; supervisory experience; exceptional planning, organizational, and communication skills; extensive knowledge of current and emerging trends in academic libraries especially in the areas of technology and information literacy. Abilities to manage a diverse workload and foster productive relationships with diverse constituencies. Preferred: Additional advanced degree(s); significant practical experience in library technology administration and/or instruction.
PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:

1. Administer library budget

2. Plan, implement, and evaluate innovative library services and programs

3. Oversee library operations at the Erie and North East campuses; define policies and standards for integrating systems.

4. Supervise a staff of 12.5 FTE including 5 professional librarians

5. Participate in reference service, library instruction and collection development activities

6. Work with other departments on campus in the development of the library’s facilities, staff, and resources to enhance teaching and learning
SECONDARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:

1. Represent the library on college committees

2. Other duties as assigned by the college administration
