Head of Technical Services & Systems/Assistant or Associate Professor (University of Nebraska at Kearney)

HEAD OF TECHNICAL SERVICES AND SYSTEMS/ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

(Tenure Track), University of Nebraska at Kearney. Oversee all aspects of Technical Services and Systems including cataloging, acquisitions, serials, and collection development, as well as operational aspects of the integrated library system. Provide leadership/direction/management of three library faculty and eight library staff. This is a twelve month, tenure track appointment reporting to the Dean of the Library.

Required: Masters degree in Library/Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program. Minimum of five years of recent academic library supervisory experience in a technical services area. Cataloging experience and current knowledge of standards and rules for MARC, LC, AACR2, and OCLC. Knowledge of emerging library technologies. Extensive knowledge of and experience with an integrated system such as III. Evidence of scholarly activity appropriate to the Assistant or Associate Professor level and potential to meet tenure requirements. Demonstrated ability to foster a cooperative environment within the department and in working with other library departments. Strong leadership, written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Preferred: Second Masters degree. Experience with Innovative Interfaces. Cataloging experience in an academic library and knowledge of acquisitions, serials, and collection development in an academic library. Experience in providing reference service and library instruction. Start Date: September 2007. Salary $65,000 minimum. Application review begins July 2, 2007 and continues until position is filled.
