Salary: $26.71 to $32.84 per hour

The Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon is seeking applicants for a full-time Library Web Services Coordinator.
The Web Services Coordinator will provide the leadership and expertise to maintain and continually improve the library’s public website and intranet. By working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholder workgroups (including reference services, public relations, access services, IT, and other county web staff), this position ensures that the library’s website and intranet are functional, well organized, customer-friendly and congruent with overall Multnomah County web practices. This position oversees CascadeLink, an online community information resource; coordinates the work of over 100 library staff contributors to the library’s internet and intranet; creates, edits and posts Web content; and works closely with IT staff to implement appropriate web technologies.
Requires six years of experience developing and maintaining a library’s public website and intranet (web master).
Additionally, qualified applicants must have the following knowledge and experience:
* Strong understanding of the appropriate use of Web services and technology in a library environment, including online reference service, WebOPAC, metadata, and community information and referral.
* Knowledge of the current trends and issues related to virtual library services, programs and collections.
* Intermediate knowledge of HTML/XHTML and one or more of the following: CSS, XML, XSLT, JSP, JavaScript, VBScript, or AJAX.
* Understanding of color theory and Americans with Disabilities Act design rules as applied to web services.
* Knowledge of the fundamentals of and principles of library science discipline, including thorough understanding of library philosophy and service, trends in the profession and how the library’s reference and information services contribute to achievement of a library’s mission and goals.
* Knowledge and understanding of trends and best practices in reference service delivery and identifying community needs.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in communication, graphic design, web page design, journalism, English or a closely related field is required. An ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or its equivalent is preferred.
