Cataloger (Truman State University)

Truman State University seeks a Cataloger for the Pickler Memorial Library. This position performs original and copy cataloging and classification of library materials. Responsibilities include: cataloging and classifying materials in all formats ; providing documentation, instruction, and support for the department’s use of Innovative’s Millennium cataloging module; maintaining serials holdings in WorldCat; resolving complex cataloging problems; assisting with authority control; maintaining an awareness of emerging standards and technologies; assisting with training and supervision of student assistants ; serving on library and University committees.

Required Qualifications:

Education: ALA accredited MLS

Experience: Experience working with an automated library system.

Skills: Knowledge of cataloging standards, including AACR2R, MARC, LCSH, LC classification; ability to work systematically and with accuracy; demonstrated English language skills; demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; flexibility and willingness to learn new skills in an environment of rapid change.

Preferred Qualifications:

Skills: Reading knowledge of a second language.

Experience: Cataloging experience in an academic library. Experience with Innovative Interface’s Millennium system. Experience using OCLC Connexion software.

Demonstrated interest in new technologies.
