DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Radford University seeks an accomplished, innovative, and proactive systems administrator to assist with the design, delivery, and maintenance of a leading-edge information technology infrastructure as Professional Faculty in support of the University Library’s mission. The position will assist in the
planning, development implementation, and maintenance of a robust information technology platform.
Responsibility for developing and managing library web servers and services; library technological applications including programs and scripts, dynamic web sites, and interactive applications. Assist in the strategic planning and in evaluating and recommending services, products and projects. Provide instruction, user aids, and assistance in support of library applications.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: The successful candidate will have systems management experience in an information technology setting; experience in implementing and supporting enterprise-wide networked information technology (including computer programming, Web Site design and server management experience; HTML, CFM, SQL, JavaScript, DHTML, CSS, IIS/Windows2003, Apache, PHP, MySQL and Linux platforms); excellent planning and project management skills, superior organizational, analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills; a commitment to professional development; and an ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment as part of a team, and with diverse groups, while maintaining an environment of mutual respect. Proven data management skills (Adobe CS2/Studio8, MS-Office applications).
Required BS Computer Science or preferred Masters in I.S. or C. S.
Preferred: Experience in academic library setting; knowledge of and experience with Content Management Systems and Intranets, ASP, PERL; ability to combine technical abilities and knowledge with project management skills to achieve desired goals; ability to configure servers and implement and manage network security; ability to translate library technical needs into effective collaboration between the Library and University technical support personnel; ability to establish goals and priorities and to work with other units in meeting mutual goals; strong problem solving skills, including flexibility creativity, and initiative; ability to effectively communicate technical issues to colleagues, library patrons, and vendors; demonstrated commitment to skills development for professional growth and position requirements. Position reports to the Coordinator of Library Technology.
COMPENSATION: Professional Faculty are twelve month, non-tenured faculty with responsibilities for university service and professional development/contribution. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent health and retirement benefits.
