Description
This senior level position reports directly to the Dean of Library and Information Services and is responsible for a department composed of 12 full-time library faculty, 13 part-time library faculty, 10.5 staff members, and student assistants. Within the overall mission and goals of the university library, provides direction and support for reference
services and collection development. Has primary responsibility for the administration of the department, including general reference, document delivery/interlibrary loan, library instruction, the curriculum materials center, government documents, and collection development.
Serves as chair with responsibility for evaluation of department faculty. Works within university and library governance structures. Works closely with dean and coordinator of library instruction in administering and directing an innovative classroom teaching program. Serves on Dean’s Council and works cooperatively and consultatively with
other assistant deans and administrative directors to further the library’s goals.
