REANNOUNCEMENT

(See the attached job description for essential duties and qualifications for this position). Under the direction of a supervisor or director, duties include copy cataloging utilizing LC subject headings/classification numbers, and the OCLC database; developing templates and creating records in the Millennium integrated library system; reviewing and revising all integrated library system on-line records; maintaining monthly and annual statistics; preparing bibliographies and reports; and training student assistants. The technician may also be responsible for department activities in the absence of the Librarian.

Hofstra University seeks a self-motivated Serials Librarian to join the library faculty and work in a collegial environment that emphasizes service. The Serials Librarian will report to the Assistant Dean/Chair for Technical Services.

Responsibilities:

* Coordinate all aspects of serials management, including the acquisition, maintenance, renewal, and cancellation of serials subscriptions in print, microform, and electronic format

* Oversee day-to-day operations of the Serials Department

* Serve as primary liaison with subscription vendor and publishers

* Maintain the library’s electronic resources management systems, Serials Solutions and Ebsco Electronic Journal Service

* Monitor serials budget and authorize expenditures for serials

Position Requirements:

* ALA-accredited MLS degree required

* Minimum of two (2) years experience in an academic library serials department

* Experience with serial software modules in an integrated library system, preferably Innovative Interfaces

* Experience working with vendors and publishers

* Additional graduate degree is preferred and required for an initial appointment at the Assistant Professor rank

The Virtual Library manages the public website, electronic resources/databases, catalog, and intranet at PCPL. We have recently completed a new public website. We are now looking to rebuild our intranet to be a centralized means of communication for the system as well as build more web 2.0 into our public site, along with many other creative projects.
