Stacks Maintenance Coordinator, Carrier Library, James Madison University, Harrisonburg VA

Carrier Library seeks an energetic, service oriented
individual to provide quality service as Stacks Maintenance
Coordinator in the circulation department.
The position reports to the Circulation Manager and is
responsible for overseeing all shelving, shelf-reading,
shifting, searching, and other stacks maintenance activities
in Carrier Library. Trains, supervises, and monitors 20-25
student assistants assigned to stacks maintenance.
Communicates shelving, shelf-reading, and shifting
priorities with students and other staff members. Regularly
informs Circulation manager about re-shelving productivity,
shelf-reading projects, and space concerns. Performs high
quality customer service duties at circulation desk using
the Millenium circulation system, interprets circulation
policies and procedures for users, provides directional and
information assistance, and assists users with the operation
of library equipment. Contributes to an efficient and
positive work environment.

Instruction/Reference Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Information
Literacy, the successful candidate will teach the required, full-semester
freshman information literacy course, LALT: 101; serve on the reference
desk, some weekend and evening hours are required; assist with assessment
and evaluation for the instruction program and have some responsibilities
for staff training.

Position requirements include an ALA accredited MLS, excellent communication
skills in spoken and written English, experience in teaching or with giving
presentations, and demonstrated experience delivering high quality reference
services. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently is also
necessary.

The Dean: The Dean is the senior administrative and financial officer of
the University Library, reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice
President and is a member of the Deans’ Council. Responsibilities
include the direction, development, implementation and evaluation of all
aspects of library services. The Dean oversees 20 librarians with
faculty status, 59 staff, and an effective budget of over $10 million
including a $5 million materials budget. The Dean provides leadership in
library and information technology, working closely with the
University’s Chief Information Officer, and collaborates in fundraising

The Ottenheimer Library of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications for the position of Director for Public Services, job #267.  This is a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, leading to tenure.   The Director will provide administrative oversight for the Public Services division and will direct the development, implementation, and marketing of new and existing programs to provide user-centered services, reference, and instruction.  The successful candidate will be a member of the Library’s senior administrative group, sharing responsibility for the overall direction of the University Library with other key managers including Directors for Technical Services and Technology, Archives and Special Collections, and Administrative Services.  This position will report directly to the Dean of the Library.

The Ottenheimer Library of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications for the position of Director of Technical Services and Technology.  This is a full-time, 12 month faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, leading to tenure.  The Director is responsible for the overall operation of Ottenheimer Library’s Technical Services Departments including acquisitions, cataloging, collection development and multimedia information technology.  The Director for Technical Services is also responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing changes in technology throughout the library.  The successful candidate will be a member of the Library’s senior administrative group, sharing responsibility for the overall direction of the University Library with other key managers including Directors of Public Services, Archives and Special Collections, and Administrative Services.  This position will report directly to the Dean of the Library.

CATALOGING AND METADATA LIBRARIAN (Ottenheimer Library, University of Arkansas at Little Rock)

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications for the position of Cataloging and Metadata Librarian, job #266, a faculty appointment with rank leading to tenure. The successful candidate will provide leadership and expertise in all issues relating to the cataloging of electronic resources, archival materials, and other special formats. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment.

This position reports to the Head of Cataloging. Position responsibilities are as follows: Create original and complex copy cataloging records following national standards and local practices for the cataloging of electronic resources, archival materials, and other special formats; collaborate with staff to develop policies and procedures for handling metadata and to maximize patron access to electronic resources and other materials; participate in database maintenance and quality control for all bibliographic and authority records in the database; serve as liaison to vendors and obtain records for import/export; train Cataloging and Archives staff in cataloging procedures for electronic resources, archival materials, and other special formats.
