COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT LIBRARIAN (Oberlin College)

The Oberlin College Library, recipient of the 2002 ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award and an active participant in OhioLINK, invites applications and nominations for the position of Collection Development and Management Librarian.

Provides leadership in developing print, media, and electronic resources; administers a $2+ million materials budget; leads integration of new media and access methods; develops forward-thinking plans for growth and management of collections; coordinates Library participation in cooperative library collection development and management programs; and participates in efforts to promote positive change in the system of scholarly communication.

Position Description: This position is with the Metropolitan Public Library of Nashville and Davidson County and is responsible for overseeing the management of system’s collection. Duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: coordinating materials selection and acquisitions for the entire library system which includes the downtown Main Library and 22 branches throughout the county; developing and implementing methods to evaluate collections and their effectiveness; evaluating and implementing new formats; managing materials budget and expenditures; ordering/receipt of materials; facilitating the maintenance of the on-going collection; assisting in the development of collection policies; developing and presenting reports on collections; and supervision of staff.

The University of California, Santa Cruz http://library.ucsc.edu/home.html Library has an opening for an innovative, knowledgeable, and service-oriented individual to become a member of the Technical Services section leadership group.  The person we are seeking will supervise the Metadata/Cataloging Unit, participate in the reorganization of a library now experiencing transformative growth and change in California’s premier public university system, and join in the development and implementation of new approaches to bibliographic services.  Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the incumbent will assist in researching, recommending, planning and implementing new metadata/cataloging and acquisitions systems, tools, technologies, procedures and policies across the UCSC Library. As part of UC systemwide library efforts, the incumbent will also participate in systemwide cataloging,
metadata and acquisitions initiatives.

Cataloging and Metadata Coordinator-Resources Management Services Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The Health Sciences Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a knowledgeable, energetic, highly motivated person to provide leadership in the provision of resource description and access
that helps users discover, identify, locate, and access content.  This new position catalogs materials in a diverse range of formats, using appropriate metadata and levels of description, and serves as primary supervisor for four staff including the Electronic Journals Assistant, a position providing support for all aspects of electronic journal access.
The Health Sciences Library is the primary library for the UNC-CH Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health and the University of North Carolina Hospitals. It also serves the health
information needs of the entire university. The library serves the state’s health professionals through the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Library and Information Services Network.
