Serials and Technical Systems Coordinator (Pence Law Library, Washington College of Law, American University)

Description: This position provides first line support for Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium ILS, the OCLC system, and other computer applications. The incumbent resolves problems identified by users and via problem reporting software and documents and communicates solutions. The incumbent will work with ILS and other computer application vendor support and will assist in the planning and coordination of activities related to ILS developments and upgrades. The incumbent will also develop and implement testing strategies related to system use and changes, and develop and conduct training workshops as needed.  Assists the Serials Department by addressing and resolving varied problems relating to the processing of serials at all points, including, but not limited to purchasing, claiming, processing and collection maintenance. In the absence of the Head of Acquisitions and Serials Control, assists in the supervision of the department.

Salary Range of Position: $21.00 - $23.00

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required

Position Requirements: 3 to 5 years of library experience using
automated library systems (preferably Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium
ILS), at least two years of which must have been in serials,
acquisitions, or cataloging in an academic or research library.
Supervisory experience is required. Practical experience with computer
systems, word processing, and spreadsheet software is necessary.
Accuracy and attention to detail is essential. The ability to analyze a
problem and formulate a logical solution is fundamentally important.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as this
position will be interacting regularly with other staff, students,
faculty, and external contacts.
