Coordinator of Library Information Technology (Raynor Memorial Libraries, Marquette University)

Reports To: Dean of Raynor Memorial Libraries

Reporting to the Dean of Raynor Memorial Libraries, this position provides leadership in responding to customer and staff academic computing needs, including staff training and the identification, assessment, and recommendation of new products. The Information Technology Department manages networked resources, 350 public and staff workstations, the Libraries’ Web site, and two electronic classrooms.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and administer a comprehensive technology plan that is integrated with the Libraries’ strategic plan;
• Monitor technological developments and effective practices in the field via professional literature, vendor contacts, and communication with other libraries; 
• Assist Libraries’ staff with effective use and troubleshooting of a wide variety of microcomputer, networked and web-based applications; oversee the Libraries’ Website and administer the local area network;
• Coordinate the Libraries’ digital initiatives;
• Serve as lead administrator of the Innovative Interfaces, Inc. system that is shared by Raynor Memorial Libraries and University Law Library;
• Serve as liaison to the University’s Information Technology Services Department;
• Supervise one librarian, two support staff, and student assistants;
• Generate and analyze usage reports as needed by the Dean and Administrative Council; and participate as an active member of the Libraries’ Administrative Council.

The successful candidate will have:

• A master’s degree in computer, information or library science or a related field;
• Demonstrated ability to find creative solutions to technological problems;
• In-depth understanding of technological trends and developments in academic libraries;
• Experience working with integrated systems, server administration, and web-based technologies;
• Effective oral and written communication skills;
• Supervisory experience;
• Strong customer service orientation;
• Minimum of three years’ experience with complex systems, preferably in an academic library;
• Commitment to and evidence of continual professional growth through course work, scholarly activity, or professional services;
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial and collaborative environment.
• Preferred: expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, networking, and experience with Innovative Interfaces management.
