Collection Development Librarian (Kresge Business Administration Library, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan)

The Kresge Business Administration Library at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, seeks energetic, creative, and service-focused candidates for the position of Collection Development Librarian. The position is a 12-month position in a non-tenure track environment and it reports to the library director.  It will be filled at the Associate Librarian rank.

Responsibilities:
The Collection Development Librarian will lead activities associated with the management of the Kresge Library resources.  This includes: coordinating selection activities; evaluating collection priorities for materials in all formats (print, periodicals, electronic, etc.); serve as the primary library selector/liaison to selected academic departments & centers; work with library systems and university offices to ensure proper steps are taken for new and renewed electronic resources; and
with the library director, manage the materials budget and license agreements for library resources.  In addition, the Collection Development Librarian will participate in business reference activities and instructional efforts to promote library resources, work with student groups, including Multidisciplinary Action Program (MAP) teams and summer interns.

Department Qualifications:
The candidate must have earned a Master’s Degree from an ALA-accredited
library program or equivalent.  The successful candidate must posses at
least 3-5 years experience with collection development activities
related to both print and electronic resources; experience negotiating
licenses agreements; general understanding of usage statistics;
experience working in a collaborative environment both inside the
library and with a variety of consortiums; willingness to utilize
innovative approaches to new library trends and technologies.  Candidate
must also demonstrate a strong service orientation; demonstrate the
ability to provide effective reference service; and manage a variety of
tasks and shifting priorities in a fast paced environment.

Desired Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or substantial academic background in business or
economics or three years of experience as a librarian in an academic or
special library; advanced degree or graduate-level academic preparation
in business or economics; demonstrated record of ongoing professional
development and contribution; and extensive knowledge of business
resources.
