This key position supervises the technical services department, coordinates system library policy and manages the III integrated library system to its maximum potential. The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is a system of 14 colleges in 7 centres in the United Arab Emirates one of the most progressive and modern countries in the Middle East. The position is based at the Central Services in Abu Dhabi and the incumbent will be responsible for:
* Plan and coordinate library material acquisition, cataloguing, processing, textbook acquisition and distribution functions within Technical Services
* Oversee and manage the operation, maintenance and future development of the integrated library system (III)
* Coordinate and provide technical expertise to support the integration of the Library system with other major HCT software applications such as Banner, Portal, WebCT Vista, etc
* Supervise technical service staff and operations, ensure timely and effective evaluation of services and personnel, and develop operational goals for the unit in keeping with Learning Resource Services objective
* Develop and document policies, procedures, and standards for all technical services operations and system wide circulation activities
* Supervise policy development and planning for HCT Library & Learning Centre services
Requirements:
* Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited institution
* Minimum five years of experience in a similar role of a library technical services unit
* Minimum three years experience in the management and operation of an automated library system (preference given to candidates familiar with the III integrated library system).
* Prior experience in library technical services, including acquisitions, cataloguing, classification, serials and library automation operations with a strong background in anyone of the areas mentioned
* Experience in international or multi-cultural settings and in working with language learning materials preferred
* Superior interpersonal, communication, team-building and leadership skills, including the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross cultural environment.
