Associate Director for Technical Services & Systems, Health Sciences Center Libraries, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA

This is an exceptional opportunity to be involved in strategic planning for
policy and program development activities and be part of an executive
management team for a library program consisting of the main Biomedical
Library and the Fisher Learning Center, the South Branch Library (dentistry,
pharmacy, health information management, nursing, occupational therapy, and
physical therapy) - both located on the Health Sciences Center campus, and
the School of Podiatric Medicine Library, located adjacent to Chinatown.

In this role, you will:

-Direct the Technical Services and Systems Department of a large, complex
academic health sciences center library program (acquisitions and technical
processing, cataloging, serials, electronic content licensing, binding, and
collection evaluation).
-Serve the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Podiatric Medicine, and Pharmacy;
College of Health Professions; Temple University Hospital and Episcopal
Campus (Department of Psychiatry); and the Temple University Children’s
Medical Center.
-Participate in integrated technology planning with the Temple University
Central Library System (Paley Library, plus branch and suburban campus
libraries).

Required:
-Master’s degree in library or information science from an American Library
Association (ALA)-accredited graduate program.
-Working knowledge of all applicable computer software.
-Management experience (including planning, negotiation, and communication
skills) and excellent project management skills.
-Extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures, and financial
and budgeting principles.

Preferred:
-Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) of the
Medical Library Association (MLA).
-10 years’ experience in a medical or science library highly desirable.
-5 years’ supervisory experience and experience working with
state-of-the-art integrated library systems and library automation.
-Extensive knowledge of OCLC or RLIN bibliographic utilities.
